His Royal Highness The Duke of York, KG visits, Forsyths

On Monday, Forsyths Ltd were delighted to host The Duke of York and Lord Lieutenant of Moray, Grenville Johnston, at their Rothes premises to present Forsyths with their Queen’s Award for Enterprise. On arrival at the local park in Rothes, they were met by Vice Lord Lieutenant, Jim Royan, and Richard Forsyth, Chairman.

The visitors received a briefing on Forsyths’ history and future plans for the company, followed by a tour of the workshops. The Duke was shown all processes of manufacturing at Forsyths, from the distillation side of the business, to the different shapes that can be created by our talented coppersmiths.

Following this, the Lord Lieutenant praised the success of the Moray Company and expressed his delight at Forsyths winning The Queen’s Award for Enterprise – International Trade. The Duke congratulated all staff on the importance of their team effort and presented the accolade to Richard Forsyth.

Richard said following the presentation; ‘It is a great honour and privilege to accept the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade not only for the Company, but for all employees who made it possible. We have surpassed all expectations in recent years, due to our huge involvement in the growth of the Scotch Whisky Industry and with consolidating Forsyths Capabilities and Services in the design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of Turnkey Distilleries on a Worldwide basis specifically in the Asia Pacific Region.’

Forsyths is the world’s leading manufacturer of copper stills and supplier of distillation equipment. The business diversified into the Oil & Gas industry in the 1990s, fabricating equipment including pressure vessels, skid units and pipework. Based in the North East of Scotland, there are sites in Rothes, Buckie, Elgin, Aberdeen and Caithness, with Hong Kong to follow later this month. There are currently 400 employees in the group.
